Creating and Uploading Video

Don’t be daunted by any lack of experience you may have producing quality video. You can use anything from simple cell phone files to professional production level videos. The quality will be reflected by the care you take in production and the equipment used but a wide variety of files are acceptable. The files you upload will be converted to “Flash” for display from the YouTube site. The basic restrictions relate to time length and file size; 10 minutes and 100 mega bytes respectively. More information can be found in the YouTube Handbook.

Uploading your videos is simple as well. Log in to your account then click “Upload” button in the menu area along the top of your YouTube page. You will arrive at the Video Upload page with information form asking for a Title, Description, Tags and a Category. Next, you can choose a radio button to make your video “Public” or to limit the visibility to a select group of up to 25 by selecting the “Private” button. Now you’re ready to click the “Upload a  Video” button which will take you to a dialog box that will let you browse for the file to be uploaded.

Other options for getting video to your channel include Quick Capture using a web cam or uploading directly from your mobile phone. In both cases getting video up to your YouTube page is quick and easy at the expense of quality.
